My name is Callie and I own my human Mom, Kristi. I was born to my cat Mom, Emily, in late August 1992. My cat family and I ended up in an animal shelter. But a really nice couple came to the animal shelter to become foster parents to my cat Mom, cat brothers and sisters, and me. All of my cat brothers and sisters were adopted by either friends or family of my human Mom's friend. My cat Mom, Emily, was injured in my human Mom's friend's basement. My human Mom and her friend rushed to the animal shelter where my human Mom's friend's husband had taken my cat Mom to be treated. By the time they got there, the people at the animal shelter had already put my cat Mom Emily to sleep. :-( My human Mom and her friend were sad because they didn't get to say good-bye to Emily. Every now and then, my human Mom thinks about my cat Mom. I miss my mom too. I became the owner of my human Mom in late October 1992. The first time my human Mom ever saw me she knew that I was going to be her kitty. Kristi had to overcome an obstacle: She lived in an apartment that didn't allow pets. But, in the end, I came to live with my human Mom at the apartment. The very first night I stayed at my human Mom's apartment, I slept with my human Mom. During the night, I decided to jump off the bed where my human Mom was sleeping to explore the apartment. I was very small when I went to live with my human Mom. When my human Mom woke up in the morning, she didn't see me. It only took her a few minutes to find me since the apartment was small. My human Mom's friend had told her that my sibilings and I had had fleas but they had been treated. The day after I started owning my human Mom, she had a friend take me to the vet. The vet said I still had fleas. Poor human Mom had to de-flea her apartment that very night. My human Mom had to spray, clean the apartment, and do laundry. But all that work was worth it to my human Mom. Doesn't she really love me? :-) It took my human Mom two days to get the courage to tell her human family that she had me. My human Grandma was happy but my human Grandpa was a little annoyed with my human Mom. As soon as they saw me, my human Grandma and Grandpa fell in love with me. I just melted their hearts. :-) My human Mom and I have moved a few times since 1992. I really love it at my human Grandma and Grandpa's house. There are lots of things to do. There are plenty of windows to watch the outside world. I really watching the birds. he he he There are plenty of places to hide. Sometimes I just need to hide from those humans called grandchildren. <G> The grandchildren want to pet me or pick me up so I have to be fast to get away from them. I have a dog and another cat to share the house. Annie Boo is the dog. She is a Keeshound-German Shepard mix. I have never seen a dog go after food like she does. <G> Annie doesn't bother me at all. If she bothers me, I just wap her on the nose. <G> We now have a new cat. Her name is Pixie. You can read all about her on her pages. I am still cuter than she is. :-) Rocky, whom we called "The Big Guy," was the oldest. He was a long-haired tabby cat. Rocky was born in the spring of 1983. He was put to sleep in September 2001 because he was sick. :-( I miss Rocky. My human Mom's brother got him as a high school graduation gift. My human Mom and her brother hid him in the basement for three days. <G> I used to curl up with Rocky at times but he didn't always like that. I love to hide in the house. It is so fun to watch everyone to look for me. When new humans come over to the house, I tend to hide for a bit and then I come out. My human Mom is amazed because I would never come out when new humans came into the house when I was younger. In the summer of 2000, my human Mom sold some furniture. I was using the furniture to hide so I could sleep. One night, my human Mom had someone over to see the furniture. When the plastic was taken off, there was a surprise. <G> I had left cat hair all over the furniture. he he he Everyone was so shocked that a little kitty like me could shed so much. It was fun watching my human family clean the hair off the furniture. he he he But, I am sad that the furniture is gone because I have one less hiding place. for awhile, my human Grandma put an afghan in a plastic baby tub. Sometimes I slept there. Or sometimes I sleep in human Mom's wooden rocker with the big pillow in it. I love cat treats. My favorite thing to do is sit on the dining room table until my human Mom or human Grandpa or Grandma gives me treats. <G> I just love to make them feel guilty. <G> I am a very little cat so everyone thinks that I am just a kitten because I weigh around 6 lbs. I have new kitty friend but I am still trying to get used to her. I spend a lot of time in my human Mom's room where I snuggle and cuddle up with my human Mom. :-) Thank you for reading my story!! :-) Back to Callie's Main Page First created: March 1997 Last updated: Thurs., Dec. 27, 2001 copyright © 1997 - 2001 - Kristi L.
