This is a copy of a letter that I gave to my dad along with his Christmas gift on Christmas Day 1999.

December 25, 1999
 

Dear Dad,

I just wanted to thank you for all you have done for me, especially this year.  I have never felt closer to you than this past year.  You and I have always been close.  But, since I started working at Transamerica, I think we have grown closer.

I enjoy riding home with you at night and talking about both our days at work.  It is really nice knowing that you are there for support when I have a bad day at work.  In fact, you’ve always been there for me whenever I needed you.

I will never forget that evening back in July when we were driving home from work.  You told me how proud of me.   It really showed me how you cared.  I guess that I really surprised you by applying at Transamerica.

Sometimes we clash over things.  But a lot of times, we get along.

I love to watch you with the grandchildren and know that you have a lot of love for each of them.  And I can see how much they love you.

Thank you for all you do!!   It is much appreciated.  I know that I don’t say it a lot…  I love you and am so glad that you are my dad!!

I hope that we can spend many more Christmases together.
