My Grandma Bert and Me - April 27, 1998

Grandma Bert is my mom's birthmom.  My grandma had to give my mom up for adoption.  My mom and grandma were reunited by phone in Oct. 1991.  They met for the first time in Nov. 1991 in Long Beach CA.  I met my grandma Bert for the first time back in March 1992 when she came to visit my brothers and I for the first time.  She's very much a part of my life.

Dear Grandma Bert,

I don't know if you know this..  But it means a lot to me to have you in my life.  I know I don't say it much but I do love you. 

It's so nice to have a grandma who has shared some of my adult life with me.  You have been a part of my life since you and Mom were reunited in 1991. 

Let me take this opportunity to recall some fond memories.   I can remember the first time I met you in March 1992 when you first came to visit my brothers and I.  I came in the door from work and gave you a big hug.  It is a memory that I will never forget.  I can remember celebrating my 28th birthday with you.  It was the first birthday you had celebrated with me.  Then a few days later, we celebrated your birthday.  I can recall the first Christmas you spent with us..  Christmas 1993.  I can still remember the day I got laidoff from my job in December 1996.  I felt so blessed to have you and Mom by my side.  Then in February 1998, I told Mom that I wanted you here when I had my surgery in April 1998.  I was so happy that you could be here by my side for that.

I am just sorry that you could not be there when I was a child.  But you are in my life now.  And I am so grateful for that.  You will always be in my heart..  ALWAYS.
