I discovered Dave Pelzer's books in August 2000. I was shopping in a Waldenbooks' bookstore for new books when I came across two of his books on the New York Times' Bestseller List.
Dave suffered extreme abuse at the hands of his mother when he was a child. He nearly died because of his mother's extreme abuse. When he was twelve years old, he was placed in foster care with the help of faculty and staff at the school he attended. Dave was in and out of foster homes for the next six years. When he turned eighteen years old, Dave enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over twelve years. He became an airman as he was in charge of refueling operations for his squadron in mid-air. Dave is married to Marsha, and has a son Stephen. Dave and his family live in California. Dave has dedicated his life to his son as well as helping others work thru something traumatic in their lives. Dave is a lecturer and hopes to focus his career on comic storyelling.
Dave has written four books. His first three books are part of the trilogy of his life. The fourth one is a self-help book. A Child Called "It"
